This was in the Boeing daily news, and I just found it amusing because it's merely a GPS satellite that is being launched. Take a good look near the nose. http://boeingmedia.com/imageDetail.cfm?id=14661&clr=release Posted by Cartman (Member # 256) on :

Or Jaws.

Nope, that's classic Flying Tigers. Nice to see someone has a sense of history and artistic merit over at Boeing.

Even though I work for Boeing, I can't say for sure, but I'd bet that was the Air Force's doing.

I dunno, militaries generally discourage personalizing a vehicle. There were some exceptions. (The Red Baron for example) I figure a person working for a private company has a lot more freedom to express himself artistically.

I wonder how the extra 25 pounds of paint on one side affected the flight.

The military may discourage personalization, but Boeing certainly wouldn't do it without their permission. It is their rocket, after all - Boeing just builds it. I suppose it's just a question of who's idea it was originally.
