Well, does anyone have the lyrics to the Doctor's opening scene in this ep? I just saw the episode again, and thought it was hilarious. Anyone?

Tuvok, I understand,
You are a Vulcan man,
You have just gone without
For seven years, about.
Paris, please find a way
To load a hypospray.
I will give you the sign,
Just aim for his behind.
Hormones are raging,
Synapses blazing.
It's all very illogical!

Cheers.

The actual bar/resteraunt looks nothing like the one on TV. "Bull & Finch" pub. Yet another great thing about Boston.

Posted by Stingray (Member # 621) on :

WTF?

Posted by MeGotBeer (Member # 411) on :

I'm sorry, was I not being clear enough?

The real "Cheers" bar doesn't look anything like what the television one does. It's actually the basement of the "Bull & Finch" resteraunt on the Boston Commons. It's yet another great place in Boston.

What was so hard to understand about that you felt the need to say "what the fuck?!"

And you had a go at Matrix for going off on a wild tangent?

Posted by MeGotBeer (Member # 411) on :

I'm simply clarifying my original comments about the "Cheers" bar in response to Eclipse's post. However, Matrix's quote makes no sense what-so-fuckin'-ever.

Lyrics to song -> Single word generic salutatory comment -> discussion on how NBC's "Cheers" set bears no resemblence to the actual bar it was modeled after -> confusion -> condecensing asshole comment -> further confusion

Posted by Eclipse (Member # 472) on :

ROTFLMAO!!!!

Posted by MeGotBeer (Member # 411) on :

So sorry for being an asshole.

But, you know, no offense here, when I start mentioning "pub" and "Boston" and "the real one" in a post right after the word "Cheers", doesn't anybody make the connection? What, no body watched Cheers? Yeeeesh.

Posted by Wes1701E (Member # 212) on :

I made the connection immediately.

Posted by MeGotBeer (Member # 411) on :

Thank you, Wes.

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

Wes, a short form of the name Wesley.

You know, Wesley Crusher was named for Eugene "Wesley" Roddenberry. As was likely Thomas Eugene Paris.

Posted by Stingray (Member # 621) on :

I made the connection immediately as well, but why the connection was ever construted in the first place was what confused me.

I guess it was a joke? If so, it wasn't a very good one...

How the hell anyone would construe "The actual bar/resteraunt looks nothing like the one on TV. "Bull & Finch" pub. Yet another great thing about Boston." as a joke is completely beyond me. Obviously, to anyone with a brain in their skull, I'm simply telling Eclipse that the real Cheers bar doesn't look like the televised bar. I'm so sorry if people don't understand this, they must have a stick up their butt or something.

I'm pleased to see we're working so diligently to prove that Flare can be as petty and dull as any other lame Trek site.

Posted by MeGotBeer (Member # 411) on :

We'll never be as bad as the TrekBBS. It's just sad that people don't comprehend that when speaking about "bars" in reference to "Cheers", the connection to the NBC sitcom isn't *bada-bing!* instintaneous.

::sigh::

Y'know, that bridge was built around the year 1600 by an architect named Antonio Contino...

Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :

The prison which helped give the bridge its name was called the Leads, due to the lead used in its construction. The Leads' most famous prisoner? Giocomo Casanova.

I GOT THE JAMES BURKE POWER_UP AND WON THE CONNECTIONS GAME!

I'm at university with someone called Leads. He was pissed off at their failure in Europe last season. Which, incidentally, is where those dirty horny Spaniards are from. Dirty bastards.

(Jeff, the problem is that no-one made any reference to the Cheers bar. Someone simply said "Cheers", as a thankyou. It's like mentioning that the Maquis were criminals, and then lauching into a comment on Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal.)

Posted by Stingray (Member # 621) on :

Michael Jackson is a pedophile.

*ahem*

Posted by MeGotBeer (Member # 411) on :

Liam,

It's really sad when people see someone talking about "bar" and "Boston" in reference to a previous post of "Cheers" and don't make the connection, regardless of whether the "Cheers" post was meant as a salutation or reference to the show. It's very very sad. And I find your lack of humor disturbing.

Posted by Stingray (Member # 621) on :

Um, Jeff, I did in fact realize that you were talking about the sets and their real life analogues of Cheers and that the post before that consisted entirely of "Cheers. "

Why you made that comment, however, is what eluded me. And still eludes me.

Posted by MeGotBeer (Member # 411) on :

Well why didn't you just ask?

I mean, I just saw the "Cheers" post, and said to myself ... Why Not?

So Michael Jackson was a Maquis?

and a pedophile?
