I haven't seen any reviews yet so... I guess I get to start... unfortunately I only have one thing to say:

Hoshi said that the book she was reading reminded her of medieval Klingon. Could it have been the Hurq [those rampaging savages without honor that came and took the Sword of Kahless, among other objects]?

Oh... the shuttle taking off was a nice touch, is that the first time that b*tch was used on Star Trek?

No, to the first time that bitch was used on Trek. Enterprise series premiere, Trip said "That son of a bitch" referring to Admiral Forrest when Enterprise was allowed to continue on their exploration misson.

um or in Undiscovered Country when Scotty called Azetbur 'that Klingon bitch' or a couple of times McCoy called Spock a green-blooded sonnovabitch

Actually, I'm pretty sure "bitch" premiered in Star Trek III. Voila!

McCOY
... That green blooded son of a
bitch!... It's his revenge for all
the arguments he lost...

Humm... it's just the way Trip said it I guess... made me think... I do remember McCoy saying it though now that I'm reminded. Both very funny scenes thank you.

I though this was a pretty good episode, especially the first part. I would have liked the mystery to last a little longer, because it was very well done.

Tarquin's castle reminded me a lot of all those similar TOS sets (Organians Chamber, Trelane's planet, the Catspaw castle), which was a really nice touch.

The new screenshots.

I found it particularly curious that Hoshi was dressed as she was. Cuz if she wanted to pass Tarquin the impression that she wasn't interested -- i say she failed.

In that short skirt thingy, all I could think was, "Man I'd do her right now!" Call me a complete pig, if you must, but she looked hot! I have a thing for asian women, what can i say!

But, if she wanted to put Tarquin off, she shoulda stayed in uniform! hahaha!

But all in all, I enjoyed the episode. I think it was a good break in the 'intensity' of the first 3 eps.

He never said he was looking for sex. He may have found her incredibly unattractive, what with her tiny head, and her hair, and her lack of head-spindles.

He was stuck on a desolate planet by himself for the rest of his life (which, apparently, was quite long). He just wanted someone to be there with him. Particularly, someone on whom he could use his telepathy. I'm sure he would have done the same stuff if it had been a man he had contacted (and that's not to say he's bi).

All the people that were burried outside were women tho' weren't they?

I got the impression he was looking for female companionship.

Why didint he just ask for a ride at the end?
That's the only loose thread I saw in an enjoiable episode.

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

I'm not certain, but I don't think he described all the former "companions". Only the first one or two.

Posted by J (Member # 608) on :

I think it was highly implied they were all women... and I think it was also implied that he did care if they were male or female, wanting only female.

AND yes... now that you mention it I was thinking Squire of Gothos the entire episode even though it wasn't some snot nosed non-coporal child.

He didn't seem particularly interested in non-telepathic humanoids, so I don't think he would've liked living anywhere else. Except on his own homeworld, perhaps.

But anyway, he seemed to eventually accept Hoshi's decision, and probably wouldn't want to burden her any longer by catching a ride.

"Might as well be 75,000 light years!"

Voyager reference or coincidence? [Smile]

"...he seemed to eventually accept Hoshi's decision..."

Only because she was going to smash his blue glowie egg.

"I don't know, her ambulatory appendages have a pleasing cross-section, but her head might as well be spindleless." How does that guy sleep at night?

Head-spindles! Tim wins the power-up for this one.

I forgot to put what I was thinking of at first.

Oh man, "Sexile!" I am so looking forward to this episode. Oh, wait.

Always a bridesmaid...

Stop talking.

He's not what he used to be, and he's blathering on like an idiot. He's had sex!

Posted by J (Member # 608) on :

I don't think I'll ever post a review again--- where's that scarred graemlin...

Posted by Alshrim Dax (Member # 258) on :

Who had sex?? People have had sex lately? Who? Where??

*looks around lost*

What was I saying again?! Sex?? WHO?!

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

Well, Aban, almost certainly. Sexiness practically pours off of him like some kind of attractive sweat.

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

ROTFL...

Sorry... no sex for Aban. Someday soon though, one would hope. "One" being me. I don't think anyone else much cares.

Posted by Harry (Member # 265) on :

I'm surprised Captain Mike hasn't brought up his infinite supply of sex-slaves from space yet.

"I don't think anyone else much cares."

Well, Liam does. He lacks those traits. B)

Well, not to change the topic from my inate sexuality... but I finally got to see all the episodes up to Exile, so I can finally actually comment on the show.

I'm left wondering why the crew didn't offer to take him somewhere, too. I few more days of Hoshi avoiding him wouldn't have been that big of a deal. She's a big girl.

And geez... that dress she had on was in-cred-i-ble.

I wonder if Travis is ever going to actually get to do anything. The most we've seen him do so far is pilot the shuttle to the asteroid and wet himself when he saw one flying towards them.

But the alien didn't want to go anywhere.

Regarding swearing and Trek, every time I've seen a Trek-actor in a regular motion picture and the actor is supposed to swear (Avery Brooks in "The Big Hit" especially) it always comes out wrong, very forced and rushed-through.
It is as if all their years doing TV-shows for kids has made them develop a mental inhibition against swearing, i.e. bad role modeling according to them. It really limits their acting range.
Scott Bakula too, he can't swear to save his life, no more than Richard Dean Anderson, who he's always competed with for the crown of "Ultimate Role Model for Boys".

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

On the other hand, their sidekicks can swear like sailors.
Dean Stockwell can swear....and sing nicely in a dress as well.

OKay, I'm at a loss for anyone on Stargate swearing but I often exclaim "Damn, I'd fuck that Samantha Carter!"

Often in crowded elevators or church.

And, to prove how amazingly intelligent I am, the first reference to swearing on TNG would be in season two's "The Samaritan Snare". When Picard was recounting the Nausican story to Wesley, he says something like:

"I told him what I thought of his pals, his race, and I might have made some passing reference as to his questionable parentage."

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

Unless you count the previously mentioned "merde" in season one.
