I just saw a preview for the new Knight Rider series (I guess it got picked up). KITT's sitting in a parking lot and parts start moving and flipping, an engine part comes up through the hood... then cut to the inside "Yah... I look good."

As always, I will withhold judgement, but the color-changing skin was stretching it.

I couldn't tell if they've got the same guy playing Tracer or if it was still Kilmer doing KITT's voice. I'll have to look it up.

This worries me.

Laughably bad.
Mansquito awful.

David Hasslehoff must be rolling over in his grave.

Well, they re-animated him for a few minutes at the end of the pilot movie...

Another trailed shows that KITT can morph into basically ANY GM/Ford vehicle, as it's seen changing into a pickup truck and back. The kicker is, Mike Knight and what's-her-face jump into the pickup's bed, and KITT transforms AROUND them, with them ending up in the front seats at the end!

Or his German citadel. Heh.

Ugh, I just saw it. Not good. Looks like it was lifted right from Transformers except for the fact that KITT transforms for one type of car into another. The Bionic Woman is spinning in her test chamber.

I saw an episode of the Bionic Woman. Steve Austin was spinning in his space shuttle. Or whatever. Was he an astronaut?

*vomit*

How in the world are they going to explain this? At the least morph-o-skin had a psuedo-explanation. What do you wanna bet the closest they come is a wise crack about KITT's "new ability". Then we're just supposed to accept it.

Looks like it's basically a suped up Ford commercial.

Team Knight Rider was certainly just that. And don't ever doubt that the popularity of the original helped sales of the original Trans-Am.

Original Trans-Am? I think you mean third generation Trans-Am. And Smokey and the Bandit undoubtedly helped the sales of the second generation.

Gimme a break, dude - I was six at the time. [Wink]

Which is why any of us thought it was cool and gave this new version a chance.

Next up: A-Team: The Next Generation.

WTF?

So for the movie-of-the-week thing they under-uberred it, and now they're gonna over-uber it?

Hell, they could've given it holography. That at least might've been quasi-plausible.

Instead, they're going to make our youth even more retarded, while simultaneously molesting our childhoods. The bastards.

(I kid, but only just.)

I can't recall any single hour of television that offended me creatively quite so profoundly as the series premiere of Knight Rider. Let's see, there was:

1) The giant KR on the bottom of KITT. Shouldn't it be KI for Knight Industries?)
2) The predicted one liner "explaining" KITTs new abilities as a "new program". Since when does software magically allow metal to split into pieces and rearrange itself?
3) The TOTAL lack of character development. Why bother with actually letting us get to know these people when we can jump right to introducing an evil conspiracy.
5) The first 15 minutes of the story involved the very important matter of getting back to the base... how thrilling.
6) The blatant effort to distract us from these issues by throwing a half naked woman at us in the first 10 minutes and a string of sex and nerd jokes thereafter.

I hereby curse this show.

*Raises mug* Lets hope niesen fucks the advertisers so it sinks, soon.

Wasn't that an episode of Family Guy?

My favorite part was when scientist-girl finds out her father allegedly has been murdered, flees from the bad guys and jumps into hero car, driven by that blonde, smug Joey Tribbiani-derivative, and suddenly this girl is spouting zany and funsome wisecracks about driving or public transportation like she was mo'foing C-3P0, all traces of grief over her beloved dead father gone, gone as if had an angel flown into the car with her and administered a gentle angel-vodka enema. I don't think it's good for a scientist to have goldfish memory.

Gee you mean like Jessica Alba in Sin City being all cherry after having just been kidnapped, tortured, chained up and half naked in the snow?

Eye Candy does not have to make sense.

Jessica Alba is about the only eye-candy that could've made the premiere of Knight Rider a semi-pleasant experience. Sadly... no Alba.

Trans Am sales were bottoming out until the SATB came out. It gave the Trans Am a sales boost that kept it going for years.

Not that I've been following it that closely, but I haven't seen one advertisement for this week's show. Maybe it got yanked already. That would be awesome.

Didn't even bother to watch it. My wife was more interested than I was and she even gave up without watching it. We simply don't have time/room to squeeze in everything.

Of course, if Dancing with the Stars/America's Got Talent wasn't on 2 or 3 times a week my wife would have more viewing time and the TV would be freed up more.

Ah well, Life on Mars starts in 2 weeks, Eureka's over for the season, along with Monk, Dr. Who and Battlestar Galactica. Might have some room for viewing time after all.

Is that Life on Mars as in Chicago, er make that New York, and Colm Menaey wait, no, I mean Harvey Keitel? Or as in Manchester and Philip Glenister?

You lives revolve around TV shows- consider that for a moment.

whereas my live spins out of control-directionless- without cable or even local channels: only the dim light of my DVD collection to set my circadean cycles to...
