No one has commented on the new (and presumably the last (major) trailer for Star Wars Episode III: The Revenge of the Sith).

Better than the teaser trailer. It's instilled a new excitement in me for the new movie! I think I want to go to a midnight screening!

I won't comment on the clip too much just yet, except - no sign of Jar Jar! LOL!

It's really quite disturbing. He's one of the oldest members of Flare, yet his posting style hasn't developed at all. I mean, LOL? What are you, twelve?

I haven't seen it yet. Is it available online anywhere (other than by feeding Lucas' pockets by joining Hyperspace)?

I haven't seen this clip, and will continue not having to the seen it, but a friend of mine that did see it said that it gave him hope and confidence, and he hated Ep.I and first half of Ep.II.

Good to know that we'll see the return of the correllian corvette and a precursor to the x-wing.

One thing does burn in my mind though, will we get to see the formation of the rebel alliance?

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

Likely not. Lucas already has tons of stuff to cram in this movie. It's likely that there will be hold outs like Organa and Mon Mothma who will talk about it, but I can't imagine an organized effort being formed this early in the game. The Senators who end up supporting the Rebellion will likely have to survive by pretending to fall in line.

I just saw it at www.starwars.com for free.

Hmmm... they must've have opened it to non-hyperspace members... I'll have to decide whether or not to watch it...

$$$SPOILER$$$

It seems that the Senate is all for the destruction of the Jedis.

As I understand it, Palpy is blaming any military defeats on the Jedi and after Mace and his three Jedi pals try to kill him (and get killed themselves by Sideous and Anakin), there is no opposition to Palpy sending Anakin and the clone troopers to destroy the Jedi Temple and everyone inside.

Pretty slick of ol' Palpy nad damn good plotting by Lucas.

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

Right... but there will still be senators who stay on the side of the Jedi, such as Bail Organa. Since Palpatine doesn't kill them, he must not view them as a threat. Therefore, I'm guessing they won't be actively involved in any kind of resistance movment by the end of the movie. They may, however, start talking about ways to lay low and begin undermining Palpy's power.

I may be crazy, but I coulda swore I saw Bail Organa in the trailer. Saying something like "Nooo..."

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

Yah, he's screaming in the trailer. But he survives the war and is a supporter of the Rebellion.

Posted by Lee (Member # 393) on :

Wasn't it states that Paly was controlling the Senate using his Evil Jedi Mind Voodoo, or something?

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

I think Dooku said it. But who knows if he's lying or not. He's probably telling the truth, and I'm pretty sure that it's Dooku's own plans for power that gets him Young Skywalker sicked on his butt.

Posted by Lee (Member # 393) on :

Yeah. Questions still need to be answered, like:-

- Does Dooku/Tyrannus know Sidious = Palpatine?
- If he does, why did he tell Obi-Wan that Sidious was controlling the Senate? Presumably not because he wants to be Master Sith Lord instead of Apprentice Sith Lord; if he did he could quite easily have dobbed Palpatine in instead of using a name that would mean nothing to Kenobi.
- if he doesn't know, the case for him wanting to depose Sidous is actually stronger! Even as he's carrying out Sidious' wishes, he's plotting against him.

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

It sounded like Dooku wanted to find some allies to get Sidious out of the way. He tries to get Kenobi to join him to "destroy the Sith", though the destory part of the plan could conceivably been just to make Kenobi think it was a righteous cause. He also seemed to wish that Qui Gon was still around to help him out. He probably knows that he can't take out Sidious by himself.

Dooku does not know about Palpy-

$$SPOILERS$$

When Palpy orders Anakin to kill Dooku in Ep III (after Dooku and Grievus kidnap Palpy on orders from Sideous),Dooku is shocked and says "You promised me amnsety!". It seems that Palpy offers Dooku amnesty in return for his freedom but decides that Anakin makes a even better shill than Dracula, so it's off with Dooku's head.

Posted by Lee (Member # 393) on :

Yeah. I didn't want to mention that in this thread, in case there're people who're happy to discuss the implications of the trailer but don't want to be spoiled by the revelations of that other thread. But since it's out there, yes, it does imply that Dooku has no idea that Palpy is also his boss.

Hey,I'm a noob to this forum and this is my first post.
The main thing I'd love to see in Ep3 is The Trials that all Padawon learners need to face to become a Jedi,I think Anikan needs to fail the Trials and this sends him spiralling out of control, towards the dark side,or Palpatine makes him fail, and sets him up to become a Darth.
Mon Montha has to make an Appearance as dose Admiral Akbar.

Yay! Akky! [Big Grin]

"It's a TRAP!"

Posted by Jason Abbadon (Member # 882) on :

Mon Mothma should indeed make an appearance....Akbar really does not though.

The Rebel Alliance seems to make people generals at the drop of a hat, so an admiral is not critical to the alliance's founding...

Not that it's needed to show any seeds of discontent so early on.
Palpy is a very popular President and will at least maintain the appearance of a government based on senetorial decision for another 18-20 years.

Son of Caligula: Anakin can't have failed any trials because the saber he's constructed as of Ep.III, the one later handed down to Luke, is that of a full Jedi Knight. Obi Wan's own words.

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

I believe Mon Mothma is indeed in the cast of characters for Ep 3. The trailer also makes it pretty clear that Palpy starts educating Anakin in the ways of evil-ness and that's what cranks his asshole meter up. That and Mace getting all in his face about not wanting him on the council.

Dooku knows damn well that Palpatine is Sidious and has a conversation with Sidious in his palpatine guise while they are waiting for the two jedi to come and rescue Palpatine.
When he cries out "you promised me amnesty he was talking to palpatine who had just told anakin to kill Dooku. As far as dooku knew before that the plan was for him to kill obi1 and get caught by anakin, after which Palpatine/ Sidious would give him amnesty for helping Palpatine end the war. It was all a complex plot to start Anakin on the path to the dark side. Sidious told anakin to kill dooku therefore betraying what Dooku percieved as the origional plan"

Yeah my spelling and punctuation sucks but i don't really care lol

Guess what? We do. Please stop.

Anakin can't have failed any trials because the saber he's constructed as of Ep.III, the one later handed down to Luke, is that of a full Jedi Knight. Obi Wan's own words.

Also, Clone Wars, Anakin's a full Jedi Knight by chapter 22.

I bet this Star Wars will be totally great and not disappointing at all!

Posted by Nim' (Member # 205) on :

Well, there might be some elements that people will groan in response to, a portion of which have merely jumped on the "hate the prequels"-bandwagon to be with the in-crowd (similar to the Peter Jackson-hating LOTR-thumpers that still cry and fume on forums despite the last movie having come and gone over a year ago) but exactly as the LOTR-phenomenon proved, the positive reactions from the majority of the moviegoing crowd will probably drown out the attention-whoring armchair quarterbacks.

I'm sure there will be something that even I will think could've been done better, but then again there are passages like that in the old trilogy as well and I've learned to accept those.

Well, I was reacting more to the weirdness from earlier in the thread. I have all sorts of mildly strong opinions about Star Wars, but I don't want to be the angry grump across the way who always yells at the kids. Or rather, I don't want to be that guy more often than I already am.

Posted by Nim' (Member # 205) on :

Yes, and I tried to act like I thought you were being serious, like "Surely it can't be totally great, can it?".

All in all, a good day's work.
