You'll probably notice that a LOT of posts are missing from the forums. As of about half an hour ago, Flare was using a total of 190 megs... The rest of SEN is barely using a tenth of that. We just pushed over a soft quota tonight.
As a TEMPORARY measure, I've removed all threads older than six months in the following forums:
General Discussion
Starships & Tech
Officers' Lounge
Flameboard
Forum Contests
I have also removed the archives and bumped up the page split threshold from 25 to 35 posts.
We now use less than 110 megs. Much better, eh?
All the missing posts *WILL* return in new Archives when Flare2 goes live Very Soon Now.
The reason this place takes up so much space is the UBB... It stores both the static HTML thread and a datafile for creating the thread. The HTML thread takes 150% the space of the datafile. Multiple pages are even worse... Often in the range of 200 to 500% larger. Flare2 will avoid this by dynamically creating old threads, so the HTML doesn't need to stick around.
So, anyway, the threads WILL be gone a week or three. If there's one you absolutely need to get to, drop me a mail ([email protected]) and I'll retrieve it for you.
