About time zones... I don't really care - but wouldn't Greenwich Mean Time make more sense, because everyone should know what their time zone is compared to GMT. Like Australian Eastern Standard Time is +10 GMT... its when different states and different countries get 'summer' or 'daylight savings' changes to their time zone - that is when anything other than GMT makes things very crazy indeed...
Andrew.
P.S. Charles is there anyway, to have the subject title/page title appear when you click the back button - i.e. and see the previous 10 pages or so... cause at the moment they all just say Flare... maybe a title for the front page and one for each topic section, then if you've finished with that particular forum, you can go right back to the start or, it saves you when you're in the middle of a thread from ending up at your message after a reply or at page '2' when you've just been reading page '5'.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but I really like how each person's post appears in the "Topic Review" when you write your own post. It makes it much easier to quote numerous people's posts in the same post.
Although it didn't seem to happen with this post...
Also, I just thought of something...If anyone can change their names, what's to stop some unscrupulous ne'er-do-well from changing his name to Charles Capps and performing all sorts of mischief in the Maker's Name?

There are protections in place to prevent that.
Oh, and the topic review will stop showing up after there are > 25 posts in a thread (meaning it's multiple pages_. An alternative is in the works.

Well I've just been away for 5 days with my family. I couldn't get onto Flare last night (Friday) and now that I have I see why. Oh and I had to Login again - where's that password!!!! HELP!
My questions are; 1) Why the change? 2) Did I miss the advanced warning? and 3) What's UBB Coding?

1) It's two years overdue. 2) It's two years overdue. 3) It's a markup code that functions as an easy to use alternative to HTML.

1) Fair enough. Personally I found nothing wrong with the previous display format and stuff. But hey, you're the boss! 2) The advanced warning is two years overdue? That's OK then as I've only been here for just under two months and still have looooads to learn about this place. (That includes learning to read the section holding messages from The Powers That Be ). 3) Oh brother! I can only just about cope with basic HTML, now I have to learn a completely new technical format thingy! Awww! I've got a headache!

I just have to know, Charles. Have Forum 10 finally been released from its agonizing existence of somewhere between life and death? Please tell me that Forum 10 has finally been given a new chance at life in another plane of existence!

Forum 10 has gone to meet the great BBS in the sky, I think. The OL has been renumbered to 10, AFAIK.

It was the porno-forum. For discussions of fine porn, and what was porn for porn's sake, and what was porn for art's sake. As I recall, the younger forum members used to post huge diatribes on the inconsitencies and nitpickings of porn flicks.
I think they missed the whole point of porn flicks.
But I digress. And when the Fundies shut the porn forum down ... well, Flare died. But then CC came up with the great idea of making this a "sci-fi" forum -- and so, Flare survived to this day.
