I think it's good, but like all US shows, there are some pitfalls. But I haven't watched the UK version yet since I'm waiting for my DVD... Over here in Los Angeles, it has mixed reviews, mainly from the people who saw the original before and the people who first watched the US version. People who watched the original say it can't beat the original, which is most likely true since nothing beats an original.

I've seen snippits of Queer as Folk (UK version) and i've seen a few episodes of the US version. My take on the US version is somewhat mixed. It seems to go for more the shock value of showing gay sex and other "sortid" views of gay society as a whole. (Such as the club scene and drug usage and so on.) I think it really misses the mark in a lot of places where the UK version hit it on the head. By the way, the one character I do like on the US version is Sharon Gless's character. If we all had mom's like that...*sighs*

Er, your version IS UM's version. Unless Canada gets the UK version ahead of the US one.
The UK version would be similar, but people would talk about Doctor Who inbetween the gay bits.
And they'd be some amusing spoofs of stuff.

Showcase (Canada's analagous cable channel to Showtime which was a weekly institution in Grade 12 at my boarding school ["Fridays without borders" and "The Late Revue"--wahoo!]) aired the British version last year sometime, IIRC. I dunno if they're airing the American version now...

The funny thing is, they think you hate them back, when in fact, you just couldn't be bothered to care. Now in Ireland, it's a different story. At least we had the common decency to wait until the English invaded before we started hating them. I guess the Canadians are hating you in advance..." -Irish Comic Ed Byrne on Canada-US relations

Yeah, Denise Crosby was in it. I have vidcaps somewhere. It's a hobby of mine.
