Anyone know if they're working on a sequel? Frankly, I love this game. Go Klingons! Or Federation, honestly. The best thing about playing Klingons is that you don't have to worry about landing troops on the planet: just bombard it until everyone's dead ...

I doubt it. I don't think it sold at all well, and Microprose is owned by Hasbro or General Electric or someone else, and is busy churning out sequels to Frogger.

Oh so that's what happened to Microprose! I did hear something a while ago . . . but was too busy with exams at the time. It is a shame, Microprose has created a laod of great games - UFO Enemy Unknown, X-COM: Terror From The Deep, need I go on?
As for Birth of the Federation, no sequel is planned as the Star Trek francise is cutting back on the number of games it is authorising. I think a few flops like "New Worlds" has had something to do with this.
But it would be nice as it was a pretty damn good game, and as with everything there room to make the next version better!

Did you just call New Worlds a flop??? Just because you don't have the system resources and/or the cranial capacity to play it well, don't diss it up. It is one of the most amazing games I've played. The graphics are nothing short of stunning and the gameplay is excellent, it is infact much better than Armada, which suffered from a severe lack of units. I didn't like Voyager's FPS, and the other ST games I've played totally sucked ass, except Starfleet Command.

New Worlds - My opinion is based upon the demo I got and the reviews from PC magazines. It is not very popular in the UK (that I know of).
Starfleet Command - good game, not played much (computer not powerful enough - graphics ).
Armada - cooool game! What this lack of units you are talking about? I would say don't diss it, but you already have and I've dissed New Worlds, so feel free! LOL!

BotF is rather entertaining, almost enjoyable, if it wasn't for its tendency to memory leak like there's no tomorrow. The game is able unplayable if you have a decent sized fleet. I really wished they could have done more with the licence, made the game more involving and such. Instead they put to much effort into a combat system that wasn't all that great after a while.
As for SFCII, still waiting for that Dynaverse to come out.

Calling New World's a flop isn't all that far off the target. A) it didn't sell well, at least i haven't seen it burning up the charts B) it was pretty much universally panned by critics (there are much better 3d RTS games out there apparently)

Though it isn't correct to say that they are making fewer Trek games now. In fact, I'm pretty sure there are more in the works than at any time previous, based largely on the runaway success of Elite Force.

USS Vanguard, my thanks go to you for your support of my comment.
Sol System, any information on these games would be appreciated as I've heard completely different stories than everyone else. Oh, I do know about the Away Team game and Bridge Commander, but that's about it. Both look pretty cool, although Away Team is said to be a bit limiting in regard to the number of missions available. Any other games planned?

Just a question on Armada, does anyone's have bugs in theirs? Mine freezes up, slows down, speeds up, and the colors go in reverse. Overall its a good game with too little units and too little scenerios and it needs a scenerio maker.
I played Birth of the Federation to death already. Beat it through impossible with me at the Beginning Level while everyone is at Advanced. Took me 1200+ turns though...
------------------ The whole concept of Survivor is get your average Joe and put him/her on the show and see how they react. Afterwards even though they did not win they make money by appearing on shows. There is no point in having to win a million dollars! They will make that amount in 2 months after appearing on 100 different shows!

You're free to feel whatever you like about Elite Force, but it has garnered its fair share of editor's choice awards and so on, and I have as of yet not noticed the "Infinite Suckitude Metric" being adopted by many retailers.
