Liz:

Rich, handsom, caring, and straight... yep, that's my prince charming! Of course he need to be strong, too... any man that gets involved with me needs to be strong

Um...

*raises hand*

Well, minus the rich part, but that's probably a relative term...

Of course, there's the fact that I live a couple thousand miles away from you, and you're four years older than me...

Congrats, Jay!

Congrats Jay, we should all be so lucky as to find somebody to spend our lives with.

Good luck in the future.

Love is like the biggest endorphin rush ever... followed by a fifty-mile-per-hour steel-toed boot to the nuts...

Being able to speak from experience is a real pain in the ass, y'know...?

I want to thank Jay, but I haven't got a depressing story to tell.

Oh, wait! I hit my foot. I don't know. Maybe it's God having a joke. Every day I think about my foot, and you don't expect your foot to just be hit by a door. Especially when you're moving it. I dunno. The foot made me think. ALL WOMEN ARE FUCKING BITCHES AND SHOULD BURN!

Conrats Jay. And good luck!

Yes, you're despicable, and... and picable... and... and you're definitely, definitely despicable. How a person can get so despicable in one lifetime is beyond me. It isn't as though I haven't met a lot of people. Goodness knows it isn't that. It isn't just that... it isn't... it's... it's despicable.

Well.

Thank you all for the kind thoughts and warm wishes. I wish everyone's lives went the way you want them to. Mine is taking a great turn in the right direction.

Love is a very splendid thing. The feeling you get when you are in love (heck, even when you've only got a bit of a crush) is incredible and beyond words. Many people have tried to put love into words, but it is a futile effort.

Now, as optimistic of love as I am, I too have been known to be depressed as hell about. I've been quoted as saying "It's no coincidence that Valentine's Day and venereal disease have the same initials." I've also been known to quote Wilhelm Nietzche: "Love is like riding through the frozen tundra on a snowmobile which overturns, trapping you underneath. At night, the ice-weasels come."

But, most of the time, I'm completely the opposite. That's because I'm the Pompatus of Love, you know. It says so under my user ID. So, as the Pompatus of Love, I say congratulations to you, Jay! Way to go; I hope you have many many many happy years together.

As an aside, I thought about going into my love life and dating experiences, but I am not going to that here. I doubt anyone here wants to know all the depressing details of the women of my life.

I used to have that as a sig. I forget to whom it was attributed, though. I know it wasn't Nietzsche. And I don't think he would have said that anyway. Did he and snowmobiles even exist at the same time?

Ah, yes, it was Matt Groening, wasn't it? I was thinking it was a cartoonist, and I thought of both Scott Adams and Gary Larson, but neither sounded right...

I'm not rich, or perticularly good looking, caring and straight I've got down pat, as for difficult, been there, can handle!! But I'm twice your age. Call me!!
