I was just wondering the genesis of the term "seppo," as used to earthily describe US servicemen in your fine fair nationent.

Funny enough, I found this. Not close enough, but anyway...

sepoy
Pronunciation: 'sE-"poi
Function: noun
Etymology: Portuguese sipai, from Hindi sipAhI, from Persian, cavalryman
Date: circa 1718
: a native of India employed as a soldier by a European power

Sounds strangely connected, although the words should be hard to mix up, what with that Y and all...

Septic - "Yankee; Asshole, Jerk." An Australian pejorative slang word, derived from "septic tank" or "septic system." The word is specifically used as a pejorative against Americans, being a rhyming slang, ie. "septic yank.""

Wankers.
