That is very scary, but very cool. And yes, they've GOT to have way too much time on their hands...

But anymore time on their hands then the average Trekkie compiling ships lists, and designing bridges ... ? I think not.

And hey, if they do, I want to learn some time management skills from them! I'm guesstimating Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry (complete with at least four hidden passages and one Chamber of Secrets [sans big statue of Salazzar Slytherin]) will take at LEAST 100 hours of construction. Oh, and it'll probably be five feet tall at least. Damn North Tower!

Y'know, this probably wouldn't be a good time for me to bring up the exhaustive calculations of mine that seem to indicate that there a far more Hogwarts alumni than the present attendance figures one can gleam from the books implies there should be.

Um, er, eh?

The books have a student population of 280, plus assorted staff ... Hogwarts does seem to have a lot of extra room.

Random thought. [Big Grin]

So, what, too much alumni? Mind you, there are other Magical schools across the world. Not everyone we meet may have come from hoggy-woggy Hogwarts!

There are only 280 if we assume that every class has five people per gender per year per house. Which seems unlikely. There just happen to be 280 magic kids born every year? Basically, who knows whether Potter's dorm has more or less than the average number of occupants?

There used to be more to this post, but I've removed it because it was erroneous. Carry on.

It's a private school, dude. Even if you throw all the background stuff (like the fact that all of this is magic in nature, which may adhere to laws we can't know) there is still the simple fact that you have to be invited to Hogwarts in order to attend. They probably keep a tight cap on student numbers.

Besides...do you really want fifteen hundred magic using teens running amok in the same area? I think not.

Thoughtchopper: Actually, the point being made was that the number of students is lower than what it ought to be.
