Heh... if there's one way to address the endless over-analysis in such instances quoted in that article, it's to point out that the whole thing is completely insane.
Apparently that author has never visited the site and forum that provides the instigation for those counter-arguments... who are ever worse in certain ways, IMO.
I believe the key difference between most of the people at Flare is that we're doing our extensive analyses for the most part within the world of Trek, keeping in mind its fictional origins -- and even using lots of the behind-the-scenes sources. Resorting to such strict scientific applications completely ignores the fact that so much of this stuff is MADE UP for entertainment value rather than scientific accuracy (come on! It's just fun to see the walker get smashed!). Furthermore, comparing two separate fictional universes is just plain silly because they often operate on exclusively different principles.

Actually, I found the whole thing quite amusing. And, it netted some nice feedback, too (www.st-v-sw.net/STSWfeedback3.html). I'm just hella-glad that I went with the webhosting plan I chose, so that I survived the undoubtedly-crushing amount of bandwidth. :-O
