Is there a way to recover the windows background pic if you don't actually have it saved as a separate picture - I accidently added a new picture via right clicking the mouse - and now I can't get the old picture back again.
Would it be cached somewhere?

Not if you just added the previous one with a right click also. It saves it as Internet Explorer Wallpaper in the Windows file and overwrites it each time you do right click->set as background.
That's as far s I know anyway.

I think IE actually saves a background you choose as "Internet Explorer wallpaper.bmp" or something. I don't think it's in cache (unless you recenly visited that page, in which case it probably is, but IE's cache is a big mess).

If you're using IE, dig around the Temporary Internet Files. To make your job easier, tell the folder to display details and then you can sort the files by type, webpage they came from etc.

It depends on how often you clean out your Temporary Internet Files.

Get WildFile's GoBack, or some such similer program, it won't help now, but in the future it will.
I usually save the images, so if I goof up I have them someplace, but never in the same place twice, so I can have crap not so nicely organized on both hard drives....
Other than that, I can be of no help....
