One of the most critically acclaimed shows in TV history, Homicide: Life on the Street reinvigorated a tired genre by focusing on the grueling work of solving murders instead of an endless succession of bloody crimes and car chases. Inspired by David Simon's Edgar Award-winning account of Baltimore homicide detectives and brought to television by writer Paul Attanasio (Gideon's Crossing) and director Barry Levinson (Analyze This, The Perfect Storm, Oz), Homicide boasted a powerhouse ensemble cast featuring Ned Beatty (Network, Deliverance), Yaphet Kotto (Alien, Midnight Run), Richard Belzer (Law & Order: SVU), and breakout star Andre Braugher (Frequency, Miller's Crossing). Now this Emmy and Peabody Award winner debuts on DVD with this collector's set featuring all 13 episodes from the first two seasons of Homicide: Life on the Street.

I love that show. I sure wish court TV would bring it back.

Fuck That. Law and Order Rocks. They're playing all the season 9 eps right now, something that A&E never played.

And then there is NYPD Blue, right after. Sipowicz rocks.

Oh PUH-LEASE Tahna. "Homicide" is by far the best cop drama ever produced. And the book, "Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets" by David Simon is quite possibly the most engrossing (and, well, gross) "true crime" book you will EVER read (if you ever do).

I tried watching Homicide. It got me interested as a mosquito on mosquito repellent.

Yeah, I mean, like everyone else stopped watching Law and Order back in about 1990. 8)

No, this is excellent news. H:LOTS was superior TV indeed, and I miss it; in fact, the last season has never even been shown here (at least not on Channel 4 or any other terrestrial channel, I can't say for sure about satellite or cable), let alone the by-all-accounts-rather-weird TV film that followed.

I dunno... the show's become something of a soap opera as of late. L&O, too.
