I too would give VIA's chipsets a comfortably wide berth and settle for one of the much nicer NForce boards instead, which, while I wouldn't touch NVidia's GPUs with a ten-foot pole either these days, do get my vote of confidence.

Quake 1, actually. In Ken Birdwell's own words:
