Check out one of Boeing's recent publicity photos of the X-45C mockup:

So is it just me, or is anyone else getting a strong Cylon vibe from this because of the purple light? It would certainly fit the bill, since this is essentially a robotic attack plane.

A robotic attack plane with more intelligence than the average Cylon, I trust. B)

Why does it have a purple light in the "cockpit" and an orange light underneath. Not to borrow from neighboring threads, but, if I didn't know better, I'd think someone was trying to rice it out.

Their grounded killbot support.

Robots are so twentieth century, though.

Why does it have the lights? Dramatic effect. In this case, it's really no different than using a smoke generator and lasers during a rollout. Except that this is much quicker and easier.

This might be easy for me to find out, but I'm curious if the photographer first tried a red light in the inlet.

Also, I'm now waiting on that first anthropomorphic cartoon of an unmanned fighter. Do you think the artist would put eyes on it or just a red "eye" going back and forth? [Big Grin]
