Y'know that big Lego capital starship I'm always talking about building? Well, that was one attempt. I'm tearing it down because a) I don't like it, and b) I didn't build any "view points" into the lower deck so you can't see the cargo bay, galley, or mess hall. Grrr.

I find it slightly irritating that all the models are out more than six months before the movie has even premiered. The kids don't even have the context of the toy yet.

Nothing is "out" yet- these are promo shots.
Check out Toyfare and action Figure Monthly for the best scoops on any upcoming sci-fi movie or major video game. The Merchansdising angle has to be ready more than a year in advance of the movie's debut so it can be pushed to retauilers. We just have better access to that kind of "behind the scenes" stuff now- thanks to Al Gore's invention, the Internet.

Well, the inner kids, yes. Lego sets are a bit too expensive for most kids' allowances nowadays.
Jeff: what you have built looks pretty cool. Did you ever come up with a definite list of the types of equipment and facilities your Legoship would have?

Not quite. Actually, I scrapped most of the tech stuff I had and looked up a layout for a WWII sub -- my original model had (from the fore on back) --
Then I decided to add a lower deck, and I put in more crew bunks, a larger galley, a medical ward, and a cargo bay. But then I figured I could do it all better, and that *thing* on my desk is the seventh or eighth version!
I actually haven't worked on it at all since before Thanksgiving. I'm going to give it another go shortly.

Before I give it another go, though, I need to disassemble that thing and sort all the pieces. In August, September, and early October, I was moving at such speed with the project that I probably ordered close to $400 worth of bricks off Bricklink. Much are in that clear plastic tub above those blue tubs. I need to get all that crap sorted out.

So you've got about a half-dozen hours of Lego wrecking and sorting ahead of you?
At least you have the room to vent your creative outlets. I've got a half-dozen Zoids model kits sitting on a shelf in my room that I haven't put together yet because I lack the space.

Jeff, I had to move back in with my parents last summer. Things between my former roommate and I went south (very long story), so I sucked it up and did the oh-my-god-this-traffic-sucks commute to school.
Now that I've graduated, I'm trying to find a job so that I can move back out of here. So far, the job hunt has been one crushing blow to my self-esteem after another. Working at Wal-Mart is beginning to look appealing.

I'd rather work at Wally-World than live with my family again...

Zoids are not models...No.
Cool old toys though- they've been around about 15 years now in some form or another. Check Ebay for the gadwafulhuge T-Rex and brachiosaorus from waaay back.

People's priorities are all screwed up. Siggy regales us with chapter and verse about his adventures at the campus housing office, but doesn't give us the real juicy stuff about the bust-up with his room-mate. For shame.
