Well... this is my last day of work after having gotten the short end of the downsizing stick.

Blech.

As I pack the last remnants of my office stuff into boxes and listen to the cackling twits in the office behind me laugh their asses off and screw around like they always do, I sure understand the reasoning of the president to try and cut certain non-essentials. I find the idiot women that make up the business office to be highly professional and productive, especially since they treat the offic elike a day care center, constantly bringing their whining brats in to get in everybody's way. Their witch-like chatter and school-girl-type giggles also contribute to the professional atmosphere of this place.

But hey... I'm non-essential. Well, I hope they're ready for the financial raping they're going to receive when they try to farm this stuff out. Cause it ain't cheap.

And I'm not bitter... not at all. Posting will continue from home...

Chin up, Alan. Nil carborundum, and all that sort of thing. Just wait, you'll fall on your feet. What are you doing towards getting your name out there where potential employers can hear about you?

He will probably end up with a job pretty soon. I won't. That's the positive spin on things.

I've been sending out fliers with a few samples of my stuff in it to local agencies, so I can call and follow after the holiday break. I'm going to get this Sunday's paper, too, and start looking at classifieds.

I had one interview yesterday and have one coming up next Thursday.

And. because I've been watching my Return of the King appendecies, I want to say everything in a Nw Zealander accent... weird, huh?

Sorry Aban, what was your job again - was it that one where you were creating covers for books?

You should position yourself to do all the work you used to do as an outside consultant for twice the price.

Wait a minute, you worked for the Family Childrens Centre and and then complain when there are women and children involved? I think maybe it's a good move for you to get away, in the long run.

In this day and age it seems like no job is secure, I regularly get threatened with downsizing and once again this year we've been hit with news that our refinery is being made into a new company and being sold off. Since I work for an IT firm sub-contracted to run the sites network, I have no idea if we'll still be there in a few months. From the sounds of it everyone else here is in a similar boat, with their 'coats on a wobbly nail' as we say here in Scotland. Welcome to life in the 21st Century.

Huh. My job's pretty secure and pays okay but I've done it so long that it's horribly boring.

Hmmm...mabye not "boring" exactly- it's just the same routine every day.
Anyone else got this problem?

Already done [Smile] In fact, I just today purchased a new home computer system to replace my dinosaur as well as Adobe's Creative Suite so I can get my design on.

And the only women and children I'm complaining about are the idiots in the business office... not the people that actually need help. Kind of two totally seperate things, there, bigguy.
