Early this afternoon, I took possession of a brand-spankin'-new 12-inch PowerBook G4. Considering that I'm moving from an obsolete iBook G3 (that was already a very low-end machine when I bought it; they'd had G4 processors for two or three years at that point), I'm now quite pleased to be experiencing all the modern software that I'm already using, but in the way that it was always supposed to be experienced.
I've already been working with the souped-up machines at the store where I work for a while, but this is generally only incidental usage during the day. Having a speed demon right in front of you, using all of your own personal settings and preferences and applications, is one heck of a treat after suffering with a stalwart-but-slow computer for the past three and a half years!
I definitely look forward to using this new PowerBook for the next two years or so. (Why so short a time, though, when my previous one lasted twice as long? Three words: "employee purchase plan", baby! )
