If anyone cares. I'll only be able to access net from work. I hope my hard-drive is ok. I have backed up most of it.
It just started shutting down - got a blue screen saying the computer was out of memory and to disable caching or shadowing in the BIOS. There was something like a kernal dump or something followed by numbers 0x0000004 etc.
It's about time for a new computer anyway - but I still want that one to work and get my stuff of the hard drive. You can just hook the hard drive up to another computer can't you and make it the slave to the hard drive of that computer?

So you can start up the PC but then at some point it shuts itself down with that BSoD? We had that problem with one model where I work, we fixed it by updating the graphics driver (because it was accessing anything to do with the display that kicked it off, especially going into screensaver mode) or, failing that, starting in safe mode, running MSCONFIG and removing HKCMD from Startup.

Have you tried a re-install? If you backed up everything, it should be a snap. Just dont install a couple of your more memory-hogging programs.
Be sure to run Spybot and something like McCaffe after you update our windows to whatever current security protocol is posted as well.

What is the specs of this computer? Just because it's bluescreening on you does not mean it is toast. Like others have said, have you tried a reinstall?
