I set my Windows system to hibernate last time I shut it down because I wasn't sure if I was done with everything that was open and it was too late at night. I've started it up again with a lower resolution monitor and I'm not getting any display at all.

Is there a way to force windows into a low rez mode without being able to see whats going on and without having to shut it down and loose my hibernated programs?

My Mac automaticly detects the monitor I'm using and adjusts the resolution accordingly, I guess I've been spoiled...

OK, if using XP
Control-esc to bring up start bar
press c to select control panel and press enter (if you had any programs that started with C on the left, it will select them first)
press d to select date time, d to select display and press enter
hit control tab 4 time (if you had 5 tabs to you display applet) to select settings tab
Tap the left arrow key to select a lower res, and tap enter

That should do it.

ended up finding a program that would do it via command line.

Probably a good thing too, I didn't remember that I had calculator in my start menu, would have drove me crazy.

Thanks though
