Yes, that date is correct, Sep 2006 and I am trying to get a Win98SE box to talk to the wireless network.

And actually after locating the correct drivers on the D-Link site, all of that went rather smooth. The WiFi utility sees my AP and connects and sees a signal strength (~66%). My Macs (including a WiFi connected PB) can all see the networked drive. The problem is that I can't get the Win 98 machine to go on the web. I suspect that part of the problem is that I had connected via ethernet previously (to download the driver, actually) and so the system is looking at the (now disconnected) ethernet cable and not finding any internet to talk to. I don't know how to tell it to use the WiFi card instead. But really it could be anything.
Any suggestions about how to make it do this would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to leave the ethernet card in there as this machine is for a family friend and they may discover (as I have) that wired connections make sense and are frequently better for desktop systems. Also urging to upgrade to a, say, relevent OS would not be helpful as this isn't my machine and neither I nor the owner is looking to spend another cent on upgrading it.

Just a hunch: TCP/IP isn't bound to the WNIC. Fix that, and there will be much elation.
