Interesting. I was under the impression that if you buy liquids once you've entered the secure area of an airport, you can take it on the plane with you. At least, that's how it was when I was flying in Canada.

Well, for one thing, there's no reason to assume Canadian airports have the same rules as German airports. Also, the article makes no claim that he purchased the vodka in the airport.

I just came home from Ireland, and while you could have any bottle you want in the check-in luggage, you couldn't have any at all in your carry-on luggage, not even a water bottle, which was fine with me. After that trip, though, I kind of empathize with that old man. At the last pub night, I thought if I just stayed away from the cocktails/vodka and went beer only, I'd be fine. LOL! Shouldn't have taken that wafer-thin mint...
