I've just started using the 19" flat panel monitor I got for Christmas, and I'm having a bit of a problem. Whenever I'm watching video, the darker scenes are verrry difficult to see - any area with a darker color looks as if I'm viewing it from beyond the viewing angle - funny colored, and blank-looking. The top and sides are also too bright to see much. This problem never occurs outside of video (the normal gui). The monitor has two modes, graphics and video; switching to video does make the video look much better (and the gui correspondingly crappy) but it doesn't fix the above problems, although the first issue is helped noticeably.
I've tried messing with color presets, color temperature, brightness, contrast, pixel clock (not even sure what that one is), and nothing seems to help...am I doing something wrong, or is this a common issue?
Thankee-sai in advance for help and advice...

Odd. I never get problems like that on my desktop monitor.... but on my laptop monitor when that happens I usually just move the screen a bit and everything's peachy-keen.
So, basically, I have no idea.

I wonder if maybe it's just the particular palette used by this codec... all I've watched so far with the new monitor is season 1 of Ent which I'm watching for the first time...maybe later I'll try something else, B5 can be pretty darkly lit at times.
