It's just insane. I know someone who took a job in Qatar. He's only got a bachelor degree, but he got a job as a lab instructor in a college over there, for $35,000USD/year, $5,000 a year gas allowance (although gas is *astonishingly* cheap there, anyway), total medical insurance (free, no premiums), flyer miles, paid vacation, and a free apartment for him and his wife. But, depending on where else you look, you could be paying $1200 for a two bedroom apartment. Its a university town, so some places jack up the rent.
