Slow night in the city of angels?

Though I must say, Ms. Mary J. isn't exactly my cup of tea, but anything is better than those soulless constructs known as "boy bands".

What's wrong with the boy bands, especially the Backstreet Boys? That group and N'sync(shudders at the mention of the group) have been founded by an African American. The music of those two groups are from black producers and songwriters. Those groups just sing them since white boys singing makes more money.

There's not too much I can say without moving this thread to the flameboard.

Music evolves. Every new person picking up an instrument or writing a song is picking and choosing from the musical culture available to him or her. Unfortunately, the gene pool available to them is stagnating. New music is punished, copies of the latest corporate fad are rewarded.

Now, this in itself isn't new, or all that bad. But it's reaching horrific proportions here at the end of the 20th century. What exactly is the difference between any of the N'98 Boys? Or the B*all Girls. Modern music is quickly locking itself into one set future, a future where there is only one thing on the radio. Don't believe me? Look at the latest sensation, so-called Latin Pop. Does it sound anything at all like what's being played on spanish-language stations? Of course not. It's simply more corporate music with a few foreign words thrown in.

Radio has been a wasteland for years in the US. In the early seventies, there was a radio station here that played a wide range of music, always album cut(meaning they weren't cut because of length). When the disco fad hit, the station changed formats, and we are just now, in the last four years or so, getting music that I will listen to on a regular basis. The current trend here seems to be "Classic Rock" which some I like and some not. Two of the three stations here play a new song now and then, including TMBG. I surf between three stations looking for something new.

The only thing on the above list that I've heard of is Kid Rock, so I must assume that the rest of it is pop.

My name is Kid! *barf*
Rock! *barf*

Somebody just mentioned the first band that gives my violent feelings while listening... I nearly punched the TV when they polluted the Grammies (not that they were something to love beforehand).

Maybe I should have put this in the Flameboard threads.

I have to give the Backstreet boys a little credit... their latest album kicks major butt, and they've matured voice-wise quite alot.

Regarding the thing about the "N'98 Boys" (I like that term...) music's being produced by blacks but w/ white singers... Who cares? It's crap, regardless of who writes it... *L*

98D, Backstreet Boys, and In Sync are all New Kids on the Block what abees. I hated the New Kids and I hate all these stupid groups arrrggghhh. Hey but Korn, Kid Rock, and Limp Biscist ($&#@ It hate my terrible spelling). Otherwise I listen to Classical music, however I do like swing, and Big Band, but there are technically Classical music if I recall.
