I have a musical question. I like really bluesy saxophone riffs, but don't have a single jazz album, nor any knowledge of jazz.

Can anyone recommend one or more albums so I don't have to buy 20 CDs just to get 2 or 3 tracks I like?

Jay is a big jazz fan. He'll give you a whole list of recommendations. Stay tune!

In the meantime, my humble unknowledgeable self suggests that you'll like just about anything by John Coltrane.

Geeze, how stupid of me...I missed this thread somehow!

If you are going to get a Coltrane disk, try and get The Gentle Side Of John Coltrane

A very nice album that showcases Coltrane's style, but that doesn't go too much into his rather unique style.

Also by Coltrane I have, My Favorite Things and A Love Supreme

My favorite things is quite good, but A Love Supreme is genius.

Sticking with a Coltrane theme don't forget the work he did with Miles Davis including, what is in my opinion the best Jazz album recorded: Kind Of Blue and '58 Miles Featuring Stella by Starlight.

'58 Miles also features a wonderful version of "On Green Dolphin Street." and another great sax man, Cannonball Adderley.

To round out the list, Charlie "Bird" Parker.

Charlie Parker With Strings: The Master Takes which I have heard some soulful songs off of and plan to buy with my next pay....

and another one I have at work, the title of which escapes me at the moment.

That is enough for now, I may have more later.

Stan Getz wields a mean sax, but he's more Bossa Nova. . .
