During last Sunday's TrekSunday chat, someone mentioned that Paul Harvey reported that bread is bad for you. I expressed the opinion that Paul Harvey is not the most reliable source for such information. He has quite often reported bogus stories as fact. In his defense, you must remember that Paul Harvey doesn't collect the news, he just reads what he's been handed.

Here's a page full of links that provide evidence to back my claim: http://www.best.com/~snopes/cgi/search.cgi?search_text=Paul+Harvey&submit=Find+it&frames=yes

P.S.: Read as many as you can, most of them are rather amusing.

P.S.: At least 2 of the eleven links are true events, and the last one on the list doesn't even mention Paul Harvey. Some of the items weren't broadcast on his radio program, but were published in books by his son, Paul Harvey, Jr.

I have a favorite radio program as I drive to work. Well, life being what it is, Paul Harvey comes on for the first 5 or so minutes with his quaint little folk lore show. Sometimes he's interesting but most of the time he annoys me with his prattle and his continued shilling of products.

Oh, and I had a student in a class that I TA'd for in college whose name was Paul Harvy...well, imagine the ribbing he got.

And now you know the rest of the story.
