It's an interesting conundrum. I certainly do not endorse any kind of drug use, but the question of personal safety is an important point, especially because misuse of drugs can cause serious harm. (Though all of those drugs are being misused in the first place in order to create the intended effect!)
Of course, one could just take the Darwinist point of view here and ignore those kinds of people -- if they choose to screw with their minds, then we shouldn't be responsible for the consequences. I've never (and I mean that honestly) felt the urge to try any kind of drug like that -- I simply don't understand the need. Never have.

hmph.
although i'm all for freedom of information (back in weaker days, well researched papers like the one he wrote probably saved my ass...), putting something like that in the face of a judge is ludicrous. my steady stream of 'yessir drugs are bad no sir i dont want to do them again yessir i was a bad boy' in judicial circles is what i owe my continued freedom to.
its not a darwinist failing either, there arent certain proportions of people in our population that have a predilection towards indulgence, its an escape which is grabbed by people based on situations.. people that use drugs to the point of damaging themselves have self-worth problems and weakness against desires, not a genetic failing of intelligence. there is the counterargument: if you dont care about damaging yourself, fine, do it.. which is an attitude which occurs to many who destroy their lives.

I guess prejudice is cloaked in robes, too. Ignorant bitch.

"Because it's usually contaminated with god knows what" works a bit better.
-------------------- Yes, you're despicable, and... and picable... and... and you're definitely, definitely despicable. How a person can get so despicable in one lifetime is beyond me. It isn't as though I haven't met a lot of people. Goodness knows it isn't that. It isn't just that... it isn't... it's... it's despicable.

I ponder sometimes why I never had a problem with taking cocaine (cut with god-knows-what) but balked at Ecstasy (contaminated with god-knows-what). . .
