CNN is now reporting that according to Jerry Falwell, the terrorist attacks were brought on by "Pagans, Abortionists, Feminists, Gays and Lesbians."
Sometimes I think Americans have as much to fear inside their country as outside it.

Well, the "pagans" bit is true, if you use the "non-Christian" definition. I don't know if Islam allows for abortion. I think it's safe to say they are not feminists, by any stretch of even the most deranged imagination. And I really can't speak for bin Laden's sexual preferences...

Falwell IS a terrorist... just one of a different sort, with a pinstripe suit and a bad hairdo instead of a turban and a scraggly beard.

Oh, of course, it has nothing to do with the people who actually hit the buildings with planes. It wasn't there fault! They were just acting as they should to get rid of the worst people in society.
I hope you can tell the above is a HUGE pile of sarcasm! These people HATE THE WHOLE USA, not just a few little group. I can't believe that bigot is using this huge disaster to find another way to attack group he doesn't like.

Ugh, this guy's no better than people who call in bomb threats just to get a day off of work. He can rot in hell with the terrorists, and keep in mind this is coming from an agnostic who really doesn't care for the whole judeo-christian concept of heaven/hell (which according to this guy, probably means I'm going to hell too).

It's important to state your religious beliefs in posts that don't need it. It really is.
-------------------- Yes, you're despicable, and... and picable... and... and you're definitely, definitely despicable. How a person can get so despicable in one lifetime is beyond me. It isn't as though I haven't met a lot of people. Goodness knows it isn't that. It isn't just that... it isn't... it's... it's despicable.

A little bit ago, they interviewed Robert Schuller.
Now this guy's okay, respectable even, and he's been preaching for something like 50 years. He's always been a pretty peaceable, tolerant, non-bigoted individual, as far as I've been able to tell. The kind of Christian I don't have anything against. Compared to Falwell, he's... well... a saint.
Anyway, they were interviewing an antiterrorist specialist who basically said "You have to kill these guys. You can't reason with them or negotiate with them. People who crash airplanes into buildings on purpose are never going to be reasonable. You have to kill them all."
And they asked Schuller, being who he is, what he thought about that. And Schuller said what we're talking about here isn't who has the right to kill, but who has the right to live. He used the example of someone breaking into your house with the intent of killing your wife... you can kill them, in self-defense.
And then he said something that really suprised the heck out of me. "This is not the time to err on the side of mercy."
SCHULLER said this.
Wow.

quote:``All of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say, 'You helped this happen,''' Falwell said.
Like I said before, it's not like the pilot just gave up the controls to the plane! The terrorists are made out to seem like an unstoppable force of nature by the people interviewed in the article. Those people had a choice, and they chose to attack America and the people in the interview making it sound like God commanded the terrorists to do it so America would see all their 'horrible sins.'
America isn't to blame for being diverse and letting its citizens have their own opinions and freedom. The blame rests on those who planned and carried out this attack.

CommanderParis: I think you might as well tell us water is wet. Of course Falwell is off his rocker. I really don't care how stupid his statements were. What I care about is how insensitive his statements were.
