Just a guess but I think the Americans are just stalling the Northern Alliance guys untill they can overrun the country themselves. I don't think they want to back the losers of the last revolution, that would be stupid. These guys are minorities in the country and would not have the backing of most of the people when the new government is set up. So they are just feeding them a trickle of bombs to keep them out of the way for now untill they can get set up for their own assault. Paul
