Okay, who had "stray Borg nanoprobe assimilates a macrovirus, grows to macroscopic size along with it, and then takes control of animatronic salamander babies" on this week's bingo card?
Yes, Lower Decks is back with two new episodes this week. You'd think the Paramount execs wouldn't burn through content this fast with the ongoing strikes, but what do I know?
This episode was a love letter to every silly thing that ever happened on Voyager, and I loved every moment of it.
The episode starts with the Cerritos getting orders to escort the newly-museumed Voyager (No bloody -A or -B) to Earth. Ransom lets Boimler know that promotions are coming up, and disasters not withstanding, he should be up for promotion to lt. jg.
However, all heck starts breaking loose when a loose petal from one of Tuvok's orchids falls onto the transporter pad, causing T'Ana and Billups to merge into... T'illups!
Several characters look into what Janeway's solution to the Tuvix problem was, sparking them all to exclaim "She straight-up MURDERED HIM?!" Justice for Tuvix.
Back on Voyager, a dormant macrovirus hiding in a wall wakes up and starts multiplying. Boimler, not actually wanting a promotion at this point, does nothing to stop it.
One of Seven's Borg alcoves falls on the Voyager museum's curator. Hysterically, he shouts "I can feel it trying to regenerate me!"
On the Cerritos, T'illups decides the only way to survive is to create allies, so they start combining crew members into more "Tuvixes".
Back on Voyager, things go from bad to worse. The assimilated salamander baby animatronics take over the ship and start piloting it towards Borg space. In addition, they activate the ship's newly-installed holo-emitters, filling the ship with Chaoticas, Clowns (from "The Thaw"), and... Michael Sullivans.
My biggest laugh from the episode came from one of the Michael Sullivans sighing "I miss my wife". (Also straight-up murdered by Janeway.)
After a pep-talk by Mariner, Boimler stops Voyager by using Neelix's cheese to disable the ship.
The small army of Tuvixes is stopped when T'Lyn merges them all into a single blob organism, which (kind of a copout) winds up being non-sentient.
Once everything is sorted out, promotions are handed out. Boimler, Tendi, and T'Lyn are promoted to lt. jg... along with Mariner, who is horrified.
The last scene takes us to a Klingon BoP, which I think is the same one from Season 2's "wej Duj". It encounters a strange ship... which suddenly and easily destroys the BoP.
A great start to Season 4. I'll get to today's second episode when I have the time.

I guess it would have been nice to spend more time with all the various Tuvixes, to see how their combinations manifested, but then that’s not really what it was about.
I hope that somewhere on Voyager there’s a full memorial and retrospective, for all those who died along the way. From Cavit to Carey…

I feel ashamed that I didn't think of that.
