I was watching a first season ep of DS9 last night. On the first and second seasons, the officers wore the same basic uniforms as they still wear on Voyager. A black tunic with a purple turtleneck.
All the characters' turtlenecks go up to the bottom of their chins...except Jadzia's. Her collar is much lower, like a t-shirt collar. It's like this in her publicity photos too.
Does anyone have an inside explanation for why her costume was different from everyone else's? I think they did this just to show off Terry Farrel's gorgeous, supple, spotted neck.

Those who pay close attention may note that over the course of Voyager the uniforms HAVE changed. Initially they were jumpsuits with purple t-shirts underneath. They did however have shoulder pads, unlike DS9 and seemed to be made of a sleeker darker fabric.
Around year 4 or so they were replaced by jackets and trousers, which retain the illusion of a single jumpsuit. (It's amusing to note they have always had to ditch jumpsuits in the end, as the regulars keep expanding and need a tight belt to keep in the flab!
I see the room has now emptied so I shall resume my tailoring duties...

Yes the Voyager uniforms are a bit sleeker looking than their DS9 cousins. The minor detail changes made them better. It's not just the actors' weight gain that forces a change to two-piecers though. The two piece uniforms are supposedly alot more comfortable and flexible than the jumpsuits
