Just watching Sins of the Father (for about the 20th time) and It's something I've noticed for a while but never asked anyone about. Has anyone noticed that in this episode the sound effects (or some of them) are absent!?!
A few are: After Kurn beams aboard there is no door noise to the Transporter Room
When Kurn tells Wesley to set course - his 'beepings' on the aft starboard station (Wesley's) aren't audible.
A KEY absent effect - the 'punch' or 'slap' noise when Worf strikes Duras (or was it the otherway around).

If it is of any indication, in the Spanish dubbing of that episode I haven't noticed any of those quirks. In fact, I remember the slap very patently.

Can you remember that for CERTAIN!?! It's just that i'd never noticed it before - but it's quite absent. Maybe when it's redubbed they get a team of 'foley artists' in to redo the soundeffects. Are all the normal phaser/ship rumble/turbolift/buttons etc noises the same as the English version?

According to no less a source than, er, the bloke who wrote the Nitpicker's guides (which are quite good, really), the sound effect is there, it's just wery, wery quiet.
I do not know myself, for I have no tape!

It isn't as though I haven't met a lot of people. Goodness knows it isn't that. It isn't just that... it isn't... it's... it's despicable.

Oh, yes, they are the same... but I'm almost sure they don't use the original soundtrack everytime for those dubbings. Unless for non-spoken parts.

I doubt that. Almost all professional dubbing simply removes the voice track and lays down new foreign language vocals. Redoing all the sound effects (and/or music, etc) would be a huge waste of time.
