Topic: Trying to figure out a specific TOS episode.

I was watching TOS on tv last year when it was on the scifi channel at 4pm central and in one episode it had James T. and Spock conversing while they walked around the entire circumference of the bridge. It gave a view of the view screen and all the outer stations in one episode. This was something I hadn't seen before and I thought I'd seen all the episodes at least 10 times. I am wondering if it was an addition to the particular episode since they were coming out on dvd at the time. Has anybody else seen this and happen to know what ep that was?
I could just kick myself for not checking the cable guide when it was on because I was doing the "Wow" thing.

Was the bridge the same as the Ent-D bridge, in that the entire forward wall came away for cameras and stuff?

i believe the bridge was designed with 'pie wedges' basically, every wall could come away to allow cameras to roll in.
shooting with the viewscreen in place was such a rarity that they often used stock footage of the screen with the back of Sulu's head in the foreground.. most of the time they didnt bother to try and cover up that the navigator was a nameless extra, even though in later seasons Chekov was in that place.

If someone were really, really cool, they'd count how many times Sulu looked back at Kirk over the entire series.

Judging from the begining of STVI, the Excelsior's mission of "charting gaseus anomalies" must have been booooring as hell. ...at least he didint install a Playstation 72 or something else to make the time go by faster.

As I recall, the, uh, pie-wedge bridge design was introduced for the films. I don't remember if it was a feature of the Phase II set, or if it was introduced later.
Of course, that doesn't mean the original one didn't do the same thing. Just that I've only heard of it in the context of the films.

Oh, it certainly did! There's a couple of shows where they show a close-up of Spock at his station and you can actually see the edge of his console. It should blend right in to the next console, but that removable panel wedge ('wild', in production talk) was gone and you could see the edge of the science console!

I believe there's a nice diagram somewhere that shows how the wedges form the TOS bridge in the TOS Sketchbook or some other Pocket Books production.

On the TMP Special Edition DVD, they talk about how the bridge set is a pretty extensive redress of the TOS set and how Bob Wise decided to bolt the pie pieces together so the audience would get the feeling of actually being on the bridge with the characters...

The TMP bridge was the Phase II bridge, not the TOS bridge. The TOS bridge was long gone, alas.
Back to TOS, not only can you see the side of Spock's console where the wild segment was pulled, but there's at least one episode where the wild section of one of the handrails is missing, so you see the end of it but the majority of the rail is gone.
