Okay, maybe I'm thinking about this too much since I took an astronomy class this past semester, but I gotta know...
In the Planetary Classification section, on Page 28, there's an entry for "Classes S-T - Ultragiant." These objects are supposed to be between 10 and 120 million kilometers in diameter.
The Class I Supergiant is a credible planet, IMO, but the only thing that'd fall under the size of Class S-T would be brown dwarfs, which aren't planets at all. After all, the Class S-T is something that would be *at least* 10 times the diameter of Jupiter, and up to 100 times as big around!
Does anyone have some insight to the intent here? I know Timo had some contributions (he's on the inside title page, after all ) but maybe someone else here has an idea, too.

Starfleet had to change the designation after the Federation admitted the Zmphellians, witch are a race of dimunitive, brown skinned miners that occasionally break out into communal singing. For diplomatic reasons, you understand.
