Hi fellows Trekkers
I was just watching trek2 and I have a question. The Avenger/Miranda class has all ways been my most favorite star ship it just plain cool looking, well anyway I have all way wondering why it was given the hull number 1864? Is there a story behind that like there is behind 1701?
Just wondering and thanks;-)

It's easy to read and obviously different from 1701?

That's the distance in cubits Harve Bennet and Gene Roddenberry got before falling down laughing in the big three-legged race that determines all registry numbers.

Starships are always given registry numbers based on cool facts about the captain. Captain Terrell once ate 1,864 marshmallows in a single day

No, no - there can only be 2 or 4-legged races - no 3-legged or 1-legged races [Smile]

That's right, Andrew. A 3-legged race would not be stable, resulting in a loss of efficiency.

However, a 4-legged racer could, under attack, cut the binding strips, seperating into two 2-legged units for a multi-vector attack.

I wouldnt saw anyone bashed him (yet).
We just dont know any answer to the question and thus the tread becomes a Monty Python sketch unto itself.

Well perhaps I should have rephrased that. Not bashing, but showing sarcasm...

Not that I would mind. Perhaps I only chose the wrong smiley. [Wink]

So Jason, no need for me to lighten up. I'm already lightened up. One week's holiday to look forward to...
