Welcome to the Forums. This topic is probably more suited to the General Discussion board, and it will get moved there as soon as I'm done here. (With a locked version of the thread here to redirect you, of course.)
Regarding the encyclopedia...well, I personally can't see why people seem to be so diappointed about the new information being added to the back. That has always been the official word on the subject, from way back when the project was announced.

There's now going to be a CD-ROM version of the new Encyclopedia out this month or next, Margaret Clark said.

There is a CD-ROM version out - saw it yesterday. It says that it is the Star Trek Encyclopedia, Version 3.0. It also says that is goes through Season 5 of Voyager and Season 7 of DS9. I wonder if they mean the entire seasons, or just part of them, like in the book form. If the CD has VGR updated through "Equinox," and more detailed data from DS9, I'd probably end up getting the CD instead of the book. Opinions?

I'd find out how much information there is in the CD edition of the encyclopedia first. If it does have more than the book, then get it.

The text encyclopedia has only partial listings through "Equinox, Part I" and "What You Leave Behind, Part II".
What I mean by this is that said episodes aren't explained in a separate article. Episodes through "Nothing Human" and "Treachery, Faith and the Great River" are the ones with the separate listing.

Tulok, Tahna here. I snipped out whatever you put on here. Let me warn you that if you EVER do that again, I will formally ask CC to kick you out. I am giving you one warning. That is all.

My humble opinion of the new encyclopedia addendum is that it pretty much blows. I realize they did it the way they did it to save a little on the cost for consumers, but there is no new ship info! You get a listing like: "Centaur, U.S.S. Federation Starship. (No kidding) Attacked Jem'Hadar vessel under Sisko's command." No Registry or class info on any of the newly mentioned ships like the Centaur, the Raven, the Cortez, the Musashi, the Sentinal, the Vera Cruz....
I won't even buy it. I'll wait until they give me somethin' I can use.
