The Romulans are, I think, territorial enough as to need little... incentive to start a war.

That is, IF the conflict is at all going to be dealt with, considering B's recent PUSHING BOUNDARIES!! quote.

Actually I am sorry for all those that complained about the Romulans and the episode "Minefield". I would much rather see more Romulans than more Klingons (and yes, I am sounding like a broken record here). But it seems the Romulans could EASILY fit into the 'temporal cold war' theme and really, for being one of the oldest Star Trek enemies, they certainly have not been developed nearly to the degree that the Klingons, Borg, Cardassians or Bajorans have. Doing something WITH the Romulans would be NEW and pushing the boundaries moreso than suffocating us with more Borg or Klingons, OR making up NEW races altogether.

That brings up an interesting point. In TNG, the Cardasians have history. At what point will we be introduced to them...

I want to see the Delphic expanse on that Trek Atlas, heh.

I wonder if Nemesis harmed the future of Romulan-themed stories. That would be too bad. It barely even had Romulans in it. Alas.

Exactly. Braxton & Co. are already busy with Admiral Janeway and the Vaadwaur War, who are being manipulated by Future Guy. Who is actually Past Guy, if you believe Braxton. [Big Grin]

On a more serious note, it's an obvious solution considering temporal mechanics to let more advanced people in the future take care of the problem. In Temporal Investigations, procrastination need never go out of style!

RE: "Wanna see the Expanse on the maps"

It is there already. Or did you miss the black background color on the Alpha and Beta quadrant maps? That's the Expanse, just below the galactic plane!

Seriously, not only would this 2000 ly phenomenon fill the entire map there, it would also fill the entire Earth sky. Seven weeks of travel time from Earth to the Expanse should be in the 100 ly ballpark, if eight weeks at comparable speeds got NX-01 back from where she was originally. And 2000 ly at 100 ly distance would cover basically *everything* in the sky.

No. Because it's not their job to put in tiny little easter eggs that roughly 0.000001% of their viewing audience would get. And seriously, you think that's an episode saving idea? Plot, drama, characterisation, giving Hoshi something to fucking do, those are episode saving ideas.

Yes, you're despicable, and... and picable... and... and you're definitely, definitely despicable. How a person can get so despicable in one lifetime is beyond me. It isn't as though I haven't met a lot of people. Goodness knows it isn't that. It isn't just that... it isn't... it's... it's despicable.

But they DO add to the creative process and help to make the show entertaining.

Something sorely lacking in the previous series.
I'll take Mayweather's Nomad model "in joke" over any/all the Voyager two hour "events" any fucking day! [Razz]

No, they don't add to the creative process. They are an excuse for hardcore fans to wank while the rest of the viewing audience either don't notice or don't care.

I just watched it last night. I don't think it will hurt as much as open it up as little more, if they get to do another movie.

Braga said that they didn't really want to do Romulans, but he didn't rule it out completely for Enterprise.

Throw in a Reman slave or two while you're at it!

And Orions!
And more Tholians (we never did understand where they fit in exactly)!
And Bolians!
And a pony!
And Talarians!
And a Racecar!

I think that one thing they're trying to say (but NOT actually saying it) is that empires come and go. By the 23rd adn 24th centuries, some of these empries have lost ground. I think of the Vulcans like the British. When the Americans started exploring, the Sun Never Sets On The British Empire and today, they're just an island nation with quaint politics and America's strongest Ally. By the 25th Century, Vulcan is pretty isolationist.

I wanna see races seen in TMP and TVH and TUC. There's a wealth of alien ideas there.

I'm waiting on a visit to Delta! [Smile]
