Okay, so I don't know where Flare has been for the past week, but it couldn't have happened at a worse time because we got a lot of info at SDCC.
(Seriously, has anyone gotten a hold of CC in years? Every time something like this happens, I worry he finally pulled the plug without even giving us any warning.)
Discovery Not much Disco info. I think we got a little guest star info, but it was mostly "Yup, 32nd Century."
Lower Decks We got our first look at this comedic animated series. I'm digging the look. The uniforms look somewhat similar to the "All Good Things" uniform, except with black shoulders and a little white thrown in. It looks like one of the main characters is an Orion female, but playing against type, which should be interesting.
Picard Geez, we got a lot of info on this. And... Lord help me... I'm psyched! Romulans! Borg! Data! Seven! Hugh! Riker! Troi! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to spend the next few months with my fingers crossed and praying that it doesn't suck.

Picard looks amazing! If you’d told me I’d be looking forward to a show with Picard, maybe-Data, and frickin’ Seven of Nine, I would’ve laughed at you. I liked Seven, but that’s not a team I would’ve expected. But it looks like it works.
Did anyone else notice the sign which said “This facility has gone 5,843 days without an assimilation”...? It looks like some fools in Starfleet (or else civilian Federation) are experimenting with Borg tech. That will surely end well.
It may be wishful thinking, but I think that there were enough classical Trek elements in Discovery S2 to sHow that those writers CAN tell an optimistic story, they just don’t WANT TO. I’m hoping that Patrick Stewart can keep them in line. (fingers crossed)

I'mso angry they're sticking with/playing to that fucking stupid "destruction of Romulus" shit.

Amen. I was totally trying-not-to-panic on Twitter again.

The Picard trailer looks great, though so did Discovery trailers.
The Romulus stuff basically tells me it's part of the new CBS Canon "Star Trek Universe" (that they're even hashtagging) as opposed to the Star Trek Original Universe of TOS-ENT. Thus, I agree with Shik.
Of course, they didn't bring up the Romulus destruction in the trailer, and that goes along with the theme of it. They did a great job keeping the trailer confined to the similar designs and details rather than new or different stuff, to the point there's no way that wasn't planned as a nostalgia-fest. But, who can blame them after Discovery?

Bear in mind that the people behind DIS have always claimed that it takes place in the main Trek timeline, even though they've made no effort to be consistent with that. Presumably, Picard is also meant to be in the same universe as the previous shows. As long as they don't screw that up the way they did DIS, I'll go along with it.
And, to be fair, it would be a lot harder to screw it up this time. PIC (I assume that's how we'll be abbreviating it?) is set in a time period we haven't seen before. DIS is the one they set in a time period where we already knew what everything looked like, and they went out of their way to make it all look as different as possible.
Oh, and for those wondering, the site outage was because the domain was accidentally allowed to expire.

See, I think there's a lot of potential behind the story of the Romulan disaster. Sure, the terminology describing the disaster in the first Kelvinverse movie was stupid, but let's think about it for a moment. There's been no shortage of weird, destructive space anomalies with stupid names in Star Trek. (Ion storms or subspace shockwaves, anyone?) So there was some kind of subspace whatever-you-want-to-call-it that destabilized at least one star (maybe several?), causing a supernova near Romulus. As far as Treknobabble goes, that's not very outlandish.
The only thing that's unusual about the situation is that Starfleet and the Federation couldn't come up with a solution in time to save the day. Nero's anger was misguided, but I'll bet there's a ton of other Romulans who felt similarly. How would Picard react when decisions he was apparently involved in lead to the deaths of billions, and the destruction of a long-time enemy's homeworld? Even a trusting person would have to admit that looks suspicious, even if they don't believe the Federation would deliberately allow it to happen.

I think it's a Romulan facility. There's a lot of BoP logos on the railing.

It's probably some sort of joint effort, since the sign is in English, while the sign next to it looks like it's supposed to be the same thing written in Romulan.

I am glad flare is back. I was so worried we lost the site. Too much Trek going on not to have this site gone.
