Seems many of you have lots of questions about the uniforms and rank..Well I hope I can answer many of your questions...BTW..my name is Phaser 1 and I came across this board VIA a friend needing uniform info..SO..while I may not be able to tell you why O'Brians rank pips changed,I can atleast give you info on the colors, the fabric, the rank system..etc..all according to the creators..from Bill Thiess to Robert Blackman..

BTW..I think I read somewhere here that someone wanted to know the colors of TOS uniforms..

command...Mustard green (gold on film)
science...Medium blue (turned light blue on film)
Engineering...Red (only color to maintain on film)

first season fabric...stretch velour
second season ..polyester/cotton(not cotton/polyester..BIG difference)

the Velour had to be replaced due to shrinkage from the cleaners..ever notice how Kirks tunic kept getting shorter???

I look forward to discussing ST..been awhile since I found a good board..

Okay, who wants to bet that Billy-boy made that up?

"Look. It's the velour I keep telling you. My uniform's shrinking. My stomach's beginning to show out of the front!"

"Er, Bill, are you sure you're not, y'know, putting on a few?"

"NO! It's the velour! Do you want me to sing Mr Tambourine Man?"

"Er, *thinks* It's the velour! Change the material! The velour is making Bill look fat, which obviously isn't the case. Please don't sing. Ever."

How about pickle juice? When I think of TOS command uniforms, I think of a the vinegarish liquid cucumbers are pickled in.

Or the N.J. coast, pick or choose.

Obviously, you've never had sushi. That comes with wasabi, commonly refered to as green mustard, which is VERY spicy and quite good in limited quantities.

Perhaps not a good impression, but I'd say an accurate one... :-)
