Well, according to this rumour on TrekToday.com, sources have it that none other than Scott Bakula is in negotiations for the role of Captain Jackson Archer: http://www.trektoday.com/news/190301_01.shtml
I for one wouldn't mind this one being true. I loved his last series, and Scott's done some nice work in some nice movies (though he hasn't had a hit with anything on the big screen, ever). Returning to regular television shouldn't be much of a Leap for him.

If this is true, I'm glad the series isn't the time-travel one like some rumors said

Jaysus, TT didn't even bother elaborating on what they meant by "sources say..." Are they trying to dodge skepticism, or what?
Anyway, set salt-shakers to "mmm-hmmm." Like the article says, official confirmation should be out soon on some things, like the premise and characters and possibly casting info.

I remember Scott Bakula from the mini-series Tom Clancy's NetForce. I thought it was all right. He would be an interesting captain. Different from what I was expecting from Series V but interesting.

Lindsey Wagner's name was banted around as being considered for Capt. Janeway.
And Louis Gossett, jr., was supposedly in the run for the role of Ben Sisko.

BTW I liked TOS. Overacting, chezzy effects, you knew who was gonna get killed in every episode, and Kirk would screw anything with 2 legs (maybe even more) - something someone said at another board.
