That is one thing that DS9 never addressed about Trills. Are the symbionts ageless!?! I'd say not. It would have been interesting to see the 'death' of a trill symbiont. The host though would be still alive... it would necessitate a new Trill for the host. This would, I assume allow the memories of the old Trill symbiont to remain alive in the same Trill host but with a new Trill Symbiont. Hey, it might be the source of any hyphenated Trill names Ezri Dax-Kahn (just as an example if the Dax symbiont eventually died and the Kahn symbiont was still alive and in need of a new host.)
