I was reading a thread in the TOS Forum on the TrekBBS board and Shane Johnson, author of Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise and Worlds of the Federation, posted a message. This of course sparked up a discussion aboutthe writing of those books and some insight on what Paramount at the time told Johnson was canon. According to him, TPTB told him that not only everything that had been onscreen was canon, but that all liscensed material was canon. Obviously, this is not the case today, but it's an interesting perspective.
Mr. Johnson is an apparently new member on the BBS, and goes by the handle thelastguardian.
Just thought you guys might like to know...

A little help? Can you tell us which threads he's posted in (links, please)? I didn't see his name as a thread starter, so it's hit and miss to find his posts.

As do I. They're are a lot of rather...unrefined, shall we say...individuals over there and there a quite a few flame wars started over it.
Mr. Johnson's first post I noticed was in this thread in the TOS Forum. The original topic of the thread was about whether or not V'Ger had crashed into the Borg homeworld. I have no idea as to why Mr. johnson chose this as his first topic to reply to, but that's where the posts are.
