A thread over at the asinine TrekBBS has started over the fact that one of the posters there got a haircut at a San Fernando barbershop from John Winston, who played Lt. Kyle in 15 episodes of TOS and ST:II.

I just thought that was pretty cool. I think a mag from 1994 that i have has a lot of Trek guest-stars' current whereabouts, like the fact that Bruce 'Riley' Hyde is now a college prefessor, stuff like that.

Anyone want to go on a haircut road trip?

Bit expensive to get a hair cut, don't you think?

Well we could get lunch too..

Ive just gone back over to read the thread and i see theyve already hit both of the good Lt. Kyle jokes.

He's giving you a haircut and Spock comes over (with a beard) holding out his hand.
"Your trimmer, Mr. Kyle"
"It wasnt my fault, honestly Mr. Spock"
"Mr. Kyle. Your trimmer."

and

Spock comes in and shoves him out of the way and proceeds to cut your hair.
"I'd 'ave gotten round to it 'ventually Mr. Spock. Ye din't 'ave to shove me"

It would be interesting to talk to him. I mean, you gotta wonder how someone feels in his situation: you have this actor from Yorkshire who plugs away for years in Hollywood, then ends up as a barber. Is he bitter? Philosophical?

Here's his IMDb page: http://uk.imdb.com/Name?Winston,+John - however, because of the stupid coding of this UBB, you have to add the following to the URL I just typed: +(I) - because it won't access HTML with parentheses. Not much for 30 years of trying. . .

Of course, CC would tell you that IMDb are the ones being dumb by putting parentheses in their URLs. Though it apparently works w/ everything but the UBB, so I don't think I buy that...

The abbreviated version of the URL seems to work just fine.
