I clearly remember reading a behind the scenes article on TOS, either in a book or MAYBE on line, that had a still photo with it. It was taken from an alternate ending to the episode "Operation: Annihalate", showing Peter (Kirk's nephew) wearing a starfleet uniform, sitting in the command chair on the bridge witk Kirk crouched next to him.
I always thought it was a cool pic, and wanted to know more about it and the scene it came from. There are a lot of people here with some REALLY obscure Trek info connections; can any of you help me out?

Might not have been a scene ... just the actor who played Peter posing on the bridge as a publicity shot of some sort. I don't think TV shows do "alternate endings" all that much.

Could be, but it didn't feel like a publicity shot. The camera angle and the way Shatner was leaning in and talking to the boy made it look like a scene in progress. IIRC, the accompanying article suggested that the scene involved Kirk treating his nephew to a "sit in the chair".

A source on another board was able to confirm the existance of the still...it IS an outtake from O:A. I'd really like to trace back the source, and find the still, if possible.
