Counselor Troy reported to Captain Picard that "the admiral's ship has been destroyed..." But that's all. She did not mention anything about Hayes or his whereabout. Maybe he, along with others, escaped through one of those escape pods. Or he could have beamed himself into one of the many ships there. Right? What do you think?

Just because the ship is destroyed is no indication that everyone on board is killed. Look at Sisko his ship was destroyed at Wolf 359 but he made it away safely.

People did pick up on this, I recall I quite legnthy topic about it here a while back. Personally I never thought it was a big deal. As has been stated before we see peple survive the destruction of their ship all the time.

Has anyone ever picked up on the idea that the admiral that was there was not Hayes himself, but someone else? Maybe Hayes couldn't make it, but some other admiral could.

Crossovers are a great idea, and work fine in the USA.
I ones had to explain why Worf was on both TNG and DS9. We ended up watching Generations, just to explain what Sisko ment by "I'm sorry about the Enterprise".
