I wondered how long it would take for this to happen, ever since they announced that Bakula was going to be the captain...
And how is Jeffrey Combs "VOY's Shran" more than he's "DS9's Weyoun"? And no mention at all of the fact that Stockwell was in Dune? Who writes this stuff?

Such silliness in the articles seems to stem largely from TrekToday's pervasive attitude that they are a real professional news source. This leads to their never just quoting a newsbit from elsewhere, but instead paraphrasing it as a new report of theirs and then tacking on the various smarmy FYI bits. Would it be too much to ask that they treat Trek news as casual internet reading rather than the New York Times?

They forgot to mention Stockwell's memorable performance of a motivated-to-maximum-success US Naval captain in the blockbuster hit McHale's Navy.

Tom Bergeron? I suppose next we'll see Jenny Jones as a Vulcan ambassador, and that guy who hosts Survivor playing the guy who hosts Space Survivor.

Apparently, Bergeron's a big Star Trek fan. Whoopi dragged him with her when she went to the Paramount lot to shoot her cameo in Nemesis, they ended up visiting the Enterprise sets, and he ended up chatting with the right people at the right time and got a bit part that was shot a few weeks later.

Oh, is Shran the Andorian? I can't keep bit characters' names straight, apparently. Since the article said "Voyager's Ethan Phillips (Neelix) and Jeffrey Combs (Shran)", I assumed they were making reference to the one part Combs played in VOY. But, still, if they're referring to him as a "well-known" actor, shouldn't they mention something he's well-known for? Honestly, his Andorian character is pretty sucky.

Tim: It's also his most recent role. And, FWIW, the name "Shran" has yet to be said onscreen, actually.
IMHO, Shran's cooler than Brunt, but still a bit behind Weyoun in terms of sheer joy to watch. He was quite cool in Shadows of P'Jem.

What sort of role will Stockwell be protraying? I'm suddenly seeing Archer going to Dr. Phlox and saying "Doc, I'm having these strange hallucinations in which a old guy called Al is following me around and talking to me. He says that's because only I can see him. He says that he's from the future. He says not to say that. He says I should shutup. Sorry Al."
