According to this report, the Ventaxians are going to show up in the new season's second episode. The Ventaxians are the guys who were nutty about getting taken over by the hip & sexy Ardra in TNG "Devil's Due".
Anyone want to lay odds that they made a gaffe? The Ventaxians in "Devil's Due" had no bumpy heads; we've seen so relatively few non-bumpy races in ENT, so...

Heaven forbid they mess up such a famous species from such a quality episode.
I mean, seriously, the Ventaxians? I'd say "why bother bringing up such an obscure race if you aren't going to do it correctly", but I'll just leave it as "why?"

Enterprise has featured some neat makeup, but I don't think their elaborate/unelaborate alien ratio is much different than any previous show.
Digging up my (incredibly sad) list, the following aliens had little in the way of makeup or prosthetics:
Lorillians (the lady and her son in the pilot) at least one of the species of monks in "Cold Front" Valakians and the Menk Coridanians Tandarans Risans, of course the aliens from "Desert Crossing" a bunch of background aliens from "Two Days and Two Nights," including Hoshi's 'friend' the miners in "Marauders" the species from Agaron that the Vulcans modified some agents to look like in "The Seventh" Kriosians the aliens who made up the Takret Militia in "The Catwalk" Enolians, from "Canamar"
That's as far as my list goes, at the moment, but it seems clear that there isn't any great absence of more or less smooth-headed humanoid types in Enterprise. And two of those listed do happen to be from TNG, and are incredibly minor. (Well, actually, I don't think Risans with things stuck to their head appeared until DS9, did they? So maybe only one species from TNG.) I wouldn't say making the Ventaxians the subject of an episode is any less likely than the Kriosians being the subject of one.
Oh, wait, I forgot the dudes from "The Communicator," as well as those lizard people who were wearing masks in that one episode. Uh, "Civilization" maybe? I didn't get a chance to record that one for my (oh so nerdy and dumb) list-making enterprise. (PUN!)

Rick Berman knows he's fucking up the history, he wants you to tlk about it and hopefully watch Enterprise, which actually put me off my Trek. ------------------ If they can't take a joke fuck 'em.

Most controversial statement ever.

Yeah, I agree it's probably a gaffe. The producers probably didn't realize that they used the name before for a race in TNG. They could always respell it when the TV Guide plot synopsis is released. Or maybe the two different races share the same name but have no knowledge of each other. I guess we could also have the Expanse Ventaxians and the Ventaxians from Ventax II.

Phlox you give Rick Berman too much credit. I think that Rick Berman is blissfully ignorant of the history or knew it at one point and then totally forgot about it. He probably hasn't seen "Devil's Due" in twelve years and even then probably didn't give much attention to the planet and race name. Maybe he honestly thinks that Ventax and Ventaxian hasn't been used yet. It probably all starts to sound the same to him after a while.
Which is more evidence that they really need to hire a continuity supervisor for Enteprise who can point out these things for them. I seriously doubt that they even look at Startrek.com.
Hey but its easy to fix. Ven'Taxian. There, that was easy.

Uh...except we've already had two instances of minor TNG species showing up in Enterprise, and another three or four minor original series species. Seems like a pattern to me.

Oooh, hang on. Things are suddenly a lot clearer. I was sure that Dr Phlox didn't used to act as if he was trying to win Mr Hyper ADD Twat Face of the year, and now I know why.
Happy.

Oh, we have a "Dr Phlox" and a "Dr. Phlox". Because we definitely need more Denobulans. Joy.
